5th STAGE | WEDNSDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER
MAROSTICA - ROSA'
We are still in Veneto, a region with a great cycling tradition, on the same roads that will host also the 2020 Italian national championships. The fifth stage of the Giro U23 starts from Marostica, the chess city, and ends after 132.7 km (and a 1.200-metre altitude gap) in Rosà, a town with whom the Giro Giovani has found great synergy, and which has already hosted the start of a stage, in front of the Ursus headquarters, in 2019.
The stage is all flat for the first 40 km, until the intermediate sprint in Bassano del Grappa and the following passage through Marostica, before climbing towards the cat 2 KOM of Crosara (7.6 km with a 4.7% average gradient). At the end of the descent the course enters a 13-km loop which includes the historic Rosina climb from the Valle San Floriano side (a couple of km with a 5.7% average gradient peaking up to 7-9%), to be ridden four times. From the last passage there are approximately 38 km which will then be all flat to go to the finish line in Rosà, which already hosted the Giro U23 in 2019.
