Fabio Mazzucco ‘heroic’ in Gaiole in Chianti, winning the stage and the maglia Rosa in the Giro d’Italia U23

Today’s race stage and the Enel maglia rosa has been won by Fabio Mazzucco (Sangemini-Trevigiani), who crossed the finish line first and far ahead of the rest in Gaiole in Chianti.
The 20-year-old Paduan, who dreams of winning the Paris-Roubaix, has gained an important win on the Eroica roads today. The stage began in Sesto Fiorentino, home to Alfredo Martini. Towards the end of the stage there were five untarmacked stretches.
On the day the Giro paid homage to Tuscany’s cycling history, an Italian fit for the bill took his turn to wear the maglia rosa at the Giro d’Italia Under 23.
The fourth stage between Buonconvento and Monte Amiata takes place tomorrow, and the riders will climb, reaching heights of 1,653 metres.
